As a kid, I loved to take road trips with my family. We didn’t have a lot of money so we usually traveled to places around our home state. We would go fishing, boating, snowmobiling, or spend time at our cabin up near the Boundary Waters. My sister (Christy) and I always heard my Dad say that we were going to go on an epic family trip to Black Hills, South Dakota and hit all the stops along the way. Needless to say that trip never happened but it stuck in our heads for many years. Flash forward to 2011 when our cousin was getting married in Texas and Christy and I decided to meet in Oklahoma City and hit all the stops on route 66 between OKC and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our kids had so much fun, and we experienced so many amazing places, that we decided then and there to make traveling together a regular thing. Even today as our kids have become young adults, they still want to travel as a family. My sister and I have always been close but this truly brought our families closer together.
A few months after our Route 66 trip, Christy and I started talking about planning another trip together. What do you think bubbled up for both of us, you guessed it, the Black Hills Trip! It was time for us to take that epic trip our father always talked about and amp it up about ten notches! We started planning THE TRIP and whenever we would reference it we would call it our Trip Of A Lifetime (TOL). Our Black Hills trip started in DeSmet, SD at Laura Ingalls Wilder’s homestead and took on a life of its own, We hit The Badlands, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Custer National Park, Deadwood, Devils Tower, and finally Colorado! It was an amazing journey and we started planning trips we would continue to call our Trip Of A Lifetime (TOL)! We have traveled across the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and more.
When you plan a trip with the people you care about, you receive far more that you could ever imagine. Our shared travel experiences have given us so many opportunities to adventure, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories! It was the central reason that my sister and I were inspired to start a custom travel business. We know that there are so many people out there who want to experience incredible trips. That’s where Trips Of A Lifetime Travel (TOL) comes in. We have a passion to create incredible travel experiences that you will never forget. Let us plan your next adventure!
